Horses for Mental Health

An Evening of Art, Film, and Connection

This May, Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga is proud to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month with a special community event at Saratoga Arts.

As part of the Horses for Mental Health Campaign, we are honored to join organizations across the country in raising awareness for the importance of mental health and the many ways healing can take shape.

What to Expect

Join us for an interactive and engaging evening that brings together art, storytelling, and shared experiences to highlight mental health in our community.

This event will be free and open to the community. Light refreshments will be served with kind support of The Saratoga Winery. All of the newly renovated studio spaces at Saratoga Arts will be open for exploration while featuring interactive opportunities for guests to learn and experience the powerful positive mental health benefits of horses, art, film and music.

  • Dee Sarno Theatre – will feature the public premiere of two new mini-films created by internationally acclaimed filmmaker, Michael McCabe, to introduce the work of Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga including a Q & A with the Saratoga-based filmmaker.
  • Painting Studio – celebrated Saratoga Springs artist, Jean Ellen Sotansky, will invite guests to participate in a community painting project celebrating the Horse-Human connection.
  • Atrium Gallery – homegrown Saratoga author, Melissa Trombetta, will share, sell, and sign her newest contemporary romance novel, The Summer Place to Be, in which equine assisted-therapy helps to shape the main character’s emotional growth.
  • Main Gallery – several local impact sector organizations will participate with information tables to share mental health resources available to the Saratoga Community. Confirmed partners include: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Capital Region, Healing Springs Recovery Community and Outreach Center, The Prevention Council of Saratoga County and more to be announced.

Why This Matters

At THS, we see every day how powerful the connection between horses and humans can be in supporting mental health and well-being.

This event brings that mission into the community—creating space for conversation, awareness, and connection during a month dedicated to mental health.
