Rachel grew up on a farm in Springfield, Missouri, where she raised a multitude of animals, including a Shetland pony and several horses. She has always had an immense passion for equines and engages with them at any opportunity, including her OTTB Patriot, a handsome dapple grey gelding who she continues to train and ride in her spare time (haha!). In college, she studied to become a Dental Hygienist, graduating with her AS in Applied Sciences. She spent the 20 years previous to joining THS as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Saratoga County. While she loved the lasting relationships with her patients and providing optimal care, her passion for horse care led her to her current position as the Equine Care Manager at THS, and her strong background in Anatomy & Physiology and study of Psychology assist in her knowledge and care for the horses. During her years as a Dental Hygienist, she also held part-time and full-time positions for Kenny McPeek (horse trainer in Saratoga) and at Sugar Plum Farm (a local thoroughbred breeding farm). Her hobbies include breeding and raising Labrador Retrievers, chickens, horses, a mini donkey, 2 rabbits, a cat, and her adored farm mutt. She has two daughters: Naomi, age 15 and Lindsey, age 6. They are both avid animal and equine lovers and often frequent the farm helping with chores and visiting the horses. Her husband Nate indulges her animal obsession and likes to frequent the THS events. Rachel thoroughly enjoys every moment at the farm, and is excited about the growth of our Equine Programs.
