From the earliest moments of her childhood, Kate has lived her life surrounded by horses. She grew up in South Gloucestershire, UK on her parent’s horse farm, where she spent her childhood riding, driving, and training various horses and ponies. Kate is grateful for the exposure to high quality instruction, daily farm life and a Pony Club education that she carries with her to this day. Kate owns two off-track Thoroughbred mares, who she retrained to take part in eventing, hunter paces, jumpers, and dressage.
As a young adult, Kate ventured to the Adirondacks, NY to work at a residential children’s summer camp where she continued to work for the next 20 + years. During this period, she held several positions, which included that of Camp Director for 14 years. This profession allowed her to create meaningful experiences for children and make a positive difference in their lives.
After taking a short break to spend time with her two children, Kate was happy to find a role here at THS where she could blend her non-profit background with her deep-seated love of horses. Kate is thrilled to help bring awareness to the restorative power of these wonderful creatures that have been such an integral part of her life. She is glad to bring her experience to the Development team to assist with Grant Writing, Program Development, and Fundraising duties, while also lending support to the ongoing need for education and understanding of appropriate and responsible aftercare for racehorses.
