Fantastic Shirl is a Thoroughbred mare by Fantastic Light out of Lady Shirl, foaled in 2003. Shirl is a dusty chestnut with a sweet nature but a mighty roar — she talks a big talk, but blends well with other horses and is a relaxed paddock-mate for Miss Day and Doc.
Shirl comes from an accomplished racing family and is a half-sister to 2011 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner Perfect Shirl. She is also part of a notable lineage bred by Charles Fipke, which includes Lady Shakespeare and her champion daughter Lady Speightspeare.
